Visit to Tollcross Winter Gardens Nursery

This morning I visited the new Winter Gardens Nursery in Tollcross Park for a tour of the facility and to catch up with the staff.

This is the first nursery to be built inside of a Glasgow City park and the children are making the most of their proximity to nature. The nursery playrooms all have direct access to the park, allowing the children to easily move between indoor and outdoor play.

It was great to see how the children and the staff are settling into the new space. The staff, including the Head, Nikki Brown, deserve huge praise for their hard work and dedication to supporting the children and their families.

The nursery replaces the derelict Millennium Building, which had fallen into disrepair and was demolished to make way for the new centre.

The work also includes the restoration of the magnificent Winter Gardens, which had been left in ruins through lack of investment. It is wonderful to see this piece of our heritage saved and I am looking forward to seeing the building come back to life.

I look forward to visiting the nursery again for their official opening in February 2023!
