Reusable Nappy Week

This week is Reusable Nappy Week, which was started to raise awareness of the benefits of reusable nappies and the problems with single-use nappies.

If you follow my work closely, you’ll know that I’ve previously attempted to legislate on this issue to reduce the amount of waste created by single-use nappies that goes to landfill and incinerators every day, and also to promote the use of reusables.

I’m very fortunate to have TotsBots in my constituency. The company was founded 20 years ago and has gone from strength to strength from humble beginnings at the the kitchen table of husband and wife team Magnus and Fiona Smyth. TotsBots manufacture high-quality cloth nappies at their Queenslie base right here in the East end of Glasgow, which are sold right around the world.

To mark Reusable Nappy Week, I recorded a special episode of my East End Ears podcast with Magnus and my other special guest, Sarah Moyes from Friends of the Earth Scotland. We recorded our video chat too, which can be watched below.

If you’d like to know a bit more about my work on this issue, check out this article on Let’s Recycle which I wrote in February as well as this article from last year.
