Last week in Parliament, I had the opportunity to speak with organisations that are providing small businesses with energy and cost of living advice.
With around two and a half thousand small businesses in the East End of Glasgow, many of which with concerns about rising business costs, I took the opportunity to attend the event to speak with organisations such as Citizens Advice to learn about the support available for local businesses.
As part of the event, I spoke to Business Debtline, a charity run by Money Advice Trust who provide free, dedicated debt advice for self-employed people and small business owners.
Remember that it's never too early or too late to seek advice, especially during the current cost of living crisis. Business Debtline have a number of services available that I would encourage small businesses across Glasgow East to utilise through their helpline and webchat. You can contact them on 0800 197 6026 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm for free and impartial advice, or alternatively you can visit businessdebtline.org to speak with an adviser over webchat.
Small businesses are having to contend with an ongoing period of high costs and reduced trade due to wider cost of living pressures, but as part of the lifeblood of our community, it is important that the right help and advice is accessed as soon as possible. If you run a small business in Glasgow East and are looking for debt advice, I would encourage you to reach out to these organisations as we continue to tackle the cost of living crisis together.
